ONTARIO’S SPECKLE PARK SALE HISTORY
IT ALL STARTED IN 2014 – HERD BUILDER SPECKLE PARK SALE
“HISTORY is important to know where we came from, but the FUTURE is most pivotal”
YES, 12 years ago now we had this crazy idea to start the 1st Speckle Park Sale in Ontario (Eastern Canada). Underhill SPECS, Steele Speckle Park and Silvertip Speckle Park.
Many said the market was “not ready” and “there are no Speckle Park breeders yet in the East”, but we knew the risk was necessary, and we needed to make Speckle Park genetics available and get Speckle Park people together under one roof. We not only had a bull and female sale, but we also had breed education seminars and lots of hospitality.
FUN FACT: In 2014, we sold commercial Speckle Park cattle at this sale for a higher price than commercial cattle are selling in 2025. The sale was a rock’EN success and we went on to produce 10 sales together and remain friends and fellow breeders today.
AND then there was the Ontario Top 10 Sale in 2019…a cool story for another day!
